American Pop Artist Roy Lichtenstein (1923 – 1997) was a leading figure in the new art movement and helped originate Pop Art. His art focused on Pop Art through parody. In his paintings, Lichtenstein produced precise compositions that documented as they parodied. Comic book art and popular advertising inspired his artwork. Lichtenstein's best-known artworks are close, but not exact, copies of comic book panels. He referred to them as restating copied art in other terms.
